Just sent in proposals for two book manuscripts! Book 1 is Canaan’s Crucible: Life and Death along the Color Line in the Era of the Great Migration. Book 2 is Survive or Perish: Race, Inequality, and the Battle for Black Lives from World War II to the Present. Fingers crossed!!!

Yesterday, officers raided the Gaza solidarity camp at UC Irvine and arrested a significant number of demonstrators. While I disagree with some of the slogans/tactics of the protesters, they were peaceful. All people of conscience should condemn this act of repression.

@ewrigleyfield @merlinc2 @ATErickson @AndrewNoymer Thanks very much for the leads. I’ve been able to piece together a lot of national data from various sources but the race and/or sex specific data from specific cities, esp in the North, is spotty. That’s what I really need!

Thus far I've used the Census Bureaus's annual Mortality Statistics reports and the US Statistical Abstract reports (which are okay, but only compare "white" and "all other races"), but I still have major data gaps--especially for non-southern cities (Detroit, Chicago, etc.). 2/3
