Best strategy ever was a tardy lock out. If in the hall w/o a pass, auto detention. Admin swept. After 1 or 2, we'd be "overheard" re upcoming one. Drastic improvement!

@iproposethis I'm 56. First time I told a boy I didn't want to be his gf, he punched me so hard I hit the ground. I was 11. He was suspended but I was still told it meant he liked me. It took me too many abusive relationships before I realized that wasn't true. We owe our girls more!

Friday, in 1 pd, left class 4x bc behavior. Why can't I say I want to kill him? I don't want to be in class bc I smell. I can't sit next to him bc he's loud. Kid w/ cool off option disappeared & must be found. Co-teach took over each time. Imagine if I was solo? #teacher

I reckon one of the best examples of Cognitive Load Theory in practice is the load placed on teachers by Behaviour Management. Every ounce of concentration taken by BM is a loss in attention devoted to teaching the content. And there is a finite amount of attention available.

Been back in the 9th grade classroom 3 weeks. I've been cussed at, had Ss refuse to work/put away phones, or just walk out, BUT I've had admin & parent backing, team support, & even better, kids showing interest & effort & saying thanks! #TEACHers
