Q: since you took turns directing each other, what were some highlights where you really noticed each other's growth? 🦁 i talked and worked a lot with jaehyun hyung on this album. whenever I threw out ideas to him in a rambling and disorganized way, he would summarize the core points so well, which allowed me to move forward much more easily. i really leaned on him during this project. back when we first debuted, we went through a lot of trial and error, but seeing how we've become more skilled and how we tackled so many new things together for the first time made me feel that we have grown tremendously. Q: you ran without a break last year. were there a moment when you felt like you needed a break? 🦁 anyone would love to get a hard earned break after working non-stop—it really is like a breath of fresh air. but for us while we were working on this album, we kept visualizing ourselves on stage with these songs. feeling so proud to tell our own stories through our music gave us a massive energy boost. honestly we didn't even think about wanting to take a break. 🦁 we’re returning with a studio album after an 8-month break, and because it allows us to share our personal stories, it's an incredibly meaningful project for all the members. we poured our hearts into preparing this, so we hope it receives a lot of love from everyone.

q. the first track, 06070, is about your trainee days. what does the song mean, and what were those years like for the members? "when we first started working on 06070, zico pd told us that it would be good to capture our original starting point, the reason this team came together in the first place. he said that he believes boynextdoor began with one boy's dream. hearing that made me feel a strong sense of responsibility while working on the song. i spent a lot of time thinking about what the most effective way to tell that story would be. in the end, i decided to start with the story of a 20 y.o boy who simply wanted to make music more than anything, before he had even met the other members. our paths and circumstances were all different, but one thing we shared was that all six of us desperately wanted to make music. it felt like the perfect place to begin. the reason i wanted 06070 to be the opening track is because those days were the starting point of our entire musical journey. in the final part of the song, i wrote about the mindset of an artist standing on stage. since the next track is the title song, viral, and the story naturally leads into stepping onto the stage, i thought it fit perfectly as the first track. looking back now, music was all we knew during our trainee days. we wanted to stand on stage so badly. we were six people filled with nothing but dreams and passion, so i'm happy that we were able to come together and debut as a team. of course, when i think about that time, a lot of painful and difficult memories come back too. but another reason 06070 serves as the intro track is that we wanted this full album to open a new chapter for us. we thought that if those six innocent boys came back and told a sincere story like this, listeners might connect with the album on a deeper level. we also felt it would help people focus even more on the title track, viral, which comes next. starting with 06070, we wanted to portray the joys, sorrows, and emotions we experienced after debut, as well as the moments right before stepping onto the stage. it's a track that really helps immerse listeners in the album, which is why we placed it at the beginning." 260608 정규 1집 [HOME] 컴백인터뷰 #이한 💬 3년 만에 첫 정규 앨범을 발매한 소감이 궁금하다. 이전 앨범들과 차별점도 있는지. 🌊 우리가 듣고 자란 음악들에서 멋지다고 느낀 것들, 그리고 기승전결이 뚜렷한 구성 등을 구현하려고 노력했다. 💬 전체적으로 멤버들의 앨범 작업 참여도가 높아진 부분 역시 눈에 띈다. 🌊 멤버들의 자전적인 이야기를 담았기에, 이번 앨범 참여도는 '역대급'이라 할 수 있다. 이 곡들로 무대에 설 수 있다는 게 놀랍고 가수로서도 자랑스럽다. 이런 부분을 처음부터 끝까지 '다큐'에도 담아 참여도를 확인할 수 있으실 거다. 💬 데뷔 3년동안 꾸준히 음악도 변화해왔다. 🌊 저희가 데뷔부터 지금까지 앨범을 내면서 매 앨범마다 다른 콘셉트와 다른 메시지, 장르의 음악을 가지고 컴백을 했다고 생각한다. 그래서인지 저희가 음악을 항상 준비하고 만드는 과정에서 중요하게 생각했던 부분이 저희의 다음 챕터는 어떤 음악을 하게 될지 기대되는 가수가 됐으면 좋겠다는 게 공통적인 의견이었다. 이번 앨범도 저희에게 또 하나의 새로운 시도가 아닐까 💬 서로 디렉팅도 봐줬다고. 서로 성장했다고 느낀 포인트가 있다면? 🐶 이한에게 굉장히 놀랐다. 이한 파트를 같이 작업했는데 직접 디렉팅을 본 게 오랜만이었다. 너무 잘 불러서 깜짝 놀랐다. 데뷔 이후 노력을 멈추지 않았구나 싶었다. 이런 동생을 둔 게 뿌듯했다. 이한이 '리무진 서비스' 준비하면서 노래하는 모습 보여줬는데 걱정할 필요 없는 멤버라는 생각이 들었다. 큰 감명을 받았다. 🌊 이번 앨범을 재현이 형과 많이 얘기하며 작업했다. 재현이 형에게 두서 없고 방대하게 얘기를 펼치면 재현이 형이 핵심 포인트를 잘 정리해 줘서 더 편하게 나아갈 수 있게 해줬다. 이번 작업에 있어서 형을 의지하면서 작업했다. 데뷔 초 때는 시행착오도 많았지만 점점 능숙해지고 처음으로 같이 많은 것들을 해보니까 엄청나게 성장했다고 느껴졌다. 💬 지난해 쉴 틈 없이 달렸다. 휴식이 필요한 순간은 없었나. 🌊 쉼 없이 달려오다가 가뭄의 단비 같은 휴식을 받으면 누구에게나 좋은 일이다. 다만 우리는 이번 앨범 준비하면서 이 노래로 무대에 서는 모습을 상상했고, 우리 얘기를 곡으로 하는 게 자랑스러워서 엄청나게 힘이 됐다. 쉬고 싶다는 생각을 하지 않았다. 🌊 8개월간의 공백기를 가지고 정규로 돌아왔는데 전체적으로 개인적인 이야기를 담을 수 있어서 저희 멤버들에게 정말 뜻깊은 앨범이 됐다. 열심히 준비한 만큼 많은 분이 사랑해 주셨으면 하는 마음이다.
