New Qwen3-235B-A22B-2507 is here, taking the spot as the SOTA non-reasoning open weights LLM from Kimi K2, just 9 days later and while being 4x smaller! 🤯 It’s amazing to have multiple open models at the level of closed providers, bridging the prior gaps for agentic use and long context ❤️ ➡️Try new Qwen3 live on @Fireworks_HQ: app.fireworks.ai/playground?mod… Model highlights: • non-reasoning only, no runtime "thinking" switch like previous Qwen3 • big jumps in math, reasoning and coding quality: 70+ on AIME25, 95% on ZebraLogic, 51 on LiveCodeBench • native 256K context: previous Qwen3 had 32K or 128K with extension, Kimi is at 128k • SimpleQA (general fact knowledge) jumps to 54%, which is extremely high (top frontier labs are at ~50%) • stronger agentic cases (tool use) compared to previous Qwen3, about same level as Kimi K2 (e.g. my favorite Tau2-Airline is slightly lower). Looking forward to real-world results beyond benchmarks Architecture details (no changes from the previous Qwen3): • like DeepSeek V3 and Kimi K2, it's a wide MoE • but substantially smaller - only 23% of parameters of Kimi: 128 instead of 256/384 experts, slightly smaller intermediate size, no shared expert • despite being smaller, it's much deeper at 94 vs 61 layers, but only every other layer is MoE • bigger KV cache without fancy MLA: 192KB instead of 70KB for DeepSeek 🏎 Overall, it's more efficient (4x+ fewer params, 1.5x fewer active params of Kimi), but lack of MLA makes it harder to process long prompts. @Alibaba_Qwen team really cooked with this release, thank you! And hope to see smaller Qwen3 updates soon too.
