Heart Jesus Heart Yourself I was talking with a good friend lately about how damaging religion, specifically Christianity and the church, can be on our selves. Loving myself was effectively preached out of me. I was taught and trained to despise myself. To not lean on my own understanding. To be suspicious of my own heart. And to not trust my gut... my feelings. I was worthy of death then punishment, in that order, and I should just be grateful God hasn't struck me down yet. But it's interesting to me that loving Jesus... (whether Jesus was real or not is immaterial because it was about him as a human being)... was the beginning of my deliverance away from all that and into a healthy self-love. Did religion teach you to hate yourself? Have you healed from that yet? Do you love yourself now?
