@CharlieBakerMA So many people are uninformed about how CFB got here. Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma v NCAA antitrust lawsuit officially began in the Western District of Oklahoma shortly after the universities filed their complaint on September 8, 1981.

@RossDellenger This is why the Sorsby case was never just a Texas Tech story. Once eligibility decisions move from conference and NCAA governance structures to a patchwork of courtrooms, the question becomes who is actually governing college sports.

@RossDellenger If you take ncaa to court you should not be allowed to do it in local jurisdictions where you will not get fair rulings. Go look at how much money Cody Campbell has donated to these judges

@cskinney @DanWolken @RossDellenger @YahooSports He can't sue for that lmao. He would lose. TONS of players are cut from teams EVERY YEAR. It's not a winnable thing in court for a player. Especially if they broke contracts. They all have morality clauses in scholarships and NIL deals.

@RossDellenger Scheduling should be taking out of the AD's and conference hand and should be done at a league level. ELIMINATE BUY GAMES and create a 70 team league where everyone plays everyone.

@cskinney @RossDellenger Schools already get stipends from the university and govt. None can afford to pay players so they have to get boosters to do it. When they get tired of it, things fix themselves due to no money. Or they lose college sports.

A new class-action lawsuit has been filed in California against the NCAA, power leagues and College Sports Commission, claiming the new NIL clearinghouse violates state statutes and federal laws and is a “conspiracy” to suppress athletes’ NIL earnings bit.ly/4xeb6oR

@ugacdawg @DanWolken @RossDellenger @YahooSports Just one option: If a school removes an athlete before completing an investigation/without following due process, that action may be unlawful, and the athlete could challenge it In such cases, the athlete may seek reinstatement or damages.

@bruce_straughan Pete Rose was a paid employee of a MLB franchise. Unitl the NCAA regains power from conferneces and determines that their athletes are the actual product of a multi-billion dollar industry they will continue to be challenged by the courts. Employ your athletes!!!

@NicoleAuerbach It’s starts with strong league leadership who can take the power back from the conferences. Then they need to reduce the number of top tier programs and separate public and private institutions. Saving Seventy is the best way to sort things!

Wrote about this a few years ago. Talked to a ton of labor lawyers about how complicated this is (how do you define the bargaining unit? private vs public schools, etc.) Worth a read even with a different NLRB/federal agency environment: nytimes.com/athletic/53139…
Matt Brown@MattBrownEP

He's right about this, but there are also two solutions to this problem 1) make the employer of the athletes a third party entity that ISN'T a public university (such as the CFP, USA Basketball, etc) 2) Change the NLRA and create a seperate category for athletes.

@utahfootballgm From '62 to '99 utah went 200 - 208 against those WAC powerhouses like SDSU, WY & NMU. Urban Meyer turned things around from 03-04 before giving way to Whittingham. For a subpar G6 team with roots in the RMC/MSAC/Skyline/WAC/MWC, Utah is very lucky to be where they are now.

@CFBTalkDaily He will file a lawsuit against Texas Tech if they remove him from the team. The only thing Tech can do is bench him for the season and there's not a D1 FBS program around that would do that.
