Many comments for this callout Sabathia had the much better peak and hit 3000 strikeouts, both true and important. That is why he went in the HOF on the first ballot.
But some of Buehrle’s unique features are being missed.
Buehrle threw both a perfect game and a no-hitter. Sabathia never did either.
Buehrle picked off 100 base runners. 100! Sabathia picked off 21.
Only 59 bases were ever stolen on Buehrle. 201 bases were stolen on CC.
Buehrle recorded a quality start 62% of the time. Sabathia did so 57% of the time.
Buehrle forced 46 more DPs.
All of these little and not so little things did add up to a rather interesting and great career.
I do think CC was better, but acting like they aren’t even close is inaccurate.

Both left-handed pitchers during the same era. CC Sabathia was a 1st ballot HOFer. Mark Buehrle received 20% of the vote on the 2026 HOF ballot in his 6th year of eligibility. Sabathia had the better career, but not by much. Does Buehrle deserve a plaque in Cooperstown?

More spending from the White Sox: They signed left-handed reliever Sean Newcomb to a one-year, $4.5 million deal, per the team. That's two deals in the last couple days after the signing of Munetaka Murakami. Newcomb was arguably the best left-handed reliever left on the market.

@catedunlap @DavidHaugh @NotMrTibbs He has a 117 ERA+ and only Once was in top 5 for CY Young award. Gave up a career average 295 BAA. He was most known for how quickly he pitched and how much his team and everyone loved him. That doesn’t say HoF to me at all!

After Alejandro Kirk worked another fantastic at-bat and singled off the right-field fence, Daulton Varsho took a center-cut first-pitch fastball from Blake Snell over the center-field fence. It's 2-2 in the fourth inning and looks like bullpenning for Toronto will start soon.
