We're suffering from a crisis of meaning that can be traced to a relentless pursuit of self-gratification. For a couple of generations, we've taught ourselves to look inward, thinking the only happiness that matters is our own, individual happiness. We'll solve this problem when we bend away from such narcissism and look outward, recalling that meaning comes from cultivating happiness in others. Go do something nice for someone else.
