He failed the interview… but I still hired him. Here’s how it happened 👇 He applied for a role, prepared, and gave his best in the interview. In the end… he didn’t get that position. But I saw his skills and potential — so I recommended him for another opening. One that turned out to be even higher than the one he originally applied for. That experience taught me something I wish every candidate knew: Every interview is a chance to sell yourself — not just for the role in front of you, but for any role we believe you could excel in. And yet, these days, I see too many job seekers showing up unprepared. 📌 Logging in from noisy or messy environments when you can blur the background. 📌 Unable to answer basic questions about the role and the company. 📌 Treating the interview like a formality instead of an opportunity. Here’s my advice as a CEO: Research the company, the role, and the industry. Present yourself well — your composure and environment matter, especially in virtual interviews. Treat it like a conversation, not an interrogation. Show enthusiasm and let us see you’re actively seeking. If you can, and there’s time, always ask for feedback — it shows you’re serious about improving. Leaders and hiring managers often have access to multiple roles. If you show up prepared, we might recommend you for something else… maybe even something better. So, no matter what happens — leave that interview knowing you gave your absolute best. 🚀
