My specialty🥹 Yes, we have mortgage options in Nigeria, and banks like Stanbic IBTC are key players in the mortgage industry. In fact, a vast number of Nigerian citizens are locking in already. To start with: mortgage is a home loan solution granted by banks for the purchase of a property, and the purchased property stands as collateral. Parties involved: Mortgagor: the borrower (the individual) Mortgagee: the lender (the bank providing the mortgage) Interest rate: dependent on the mortgage bank, some offer as high as the MPR (26.50%) in the country Mortgage duration: 20 years, subject to retirement age Equity: contribution made towards the acquisition of a property via mortgage options There are different types of mortgage variants, but I’ll briefly explain the top three: 1. Pension-backed mortgage: Allows individuals whose employer and employee contributions have accumulated for a cumulative period of 5 years to take 25% of their pension balance for equity contribution towards a mortgage facility. 2. Joint mortgage: Allows married couples to take a mortgage via joint application; both parties incomes are factored into repayment. 3. Diaspora Mortgage: Available to Nigerians living abroad who want to own a property in Nigeria via mortgage options There are other variants, which include: equity release mortgage, for existing mortgage holders who want to release equity from their property Loan buy-back mortgage: when a bank buys your mortgage facility from another bank and Off-plan mortgage, for properties still under construction (carcass). Back to interest rates, considering that figure is relatively high for the average individual, the recent government administration introduced a subsidized interest rate on mortgage facilities in partnership with some mortgage and commercial banks called MREIF (Mortgage Refinancing and Enhancement Investment Fund), which offers 9.75% on mortgage facilities capped at 100m naira. There’s a lot more to unpack about mortgages, like documents required, eligibility requirements, and due diligence checks but it’s best to visit the bank for more information. Banks: Stanbic IBTC, Access Bank, FBN, Fidelity, etc.

In 2015, I got kicked out of the polytechnic I was attending because I had low grades, I couldn’t tell my parents because I thought that would be the end of my life, but luckily for me, my mom found out on time and told my dad, at that time, my dad was in Liberia for a peace keeping mission, when he got back, I was expecting him to finish me, but he called me into his room and asked me what the problem was, I told him it was just my foolishness, because everybody knew I wasn’t dull, then he asked what I wanted, told him I wanted to go back to school! He said okay, he will give me another chance! No quarrel, no slap, nothing! It was at that moment that I decided that I was going to turn my life around! Rewrote jamb, got into uni and rebranded completely Happy Father’s Day to the man who keeps taking a chance on me despite my foolishness!

@disloman @Avocado_Cados Are you dumb?? Without markets on the roads nobody will dump wastes there. Those wastes are as a result of the markets illegally situated by the road. We've designated markets in every local government. Why sell corns, vegetables and fish on pedestrian walkways??

@disloman @Avocado_Cados So you're very comfortable with markets everywhere on our roads right? Everywhere seems so crowded and exhausting with different smells from spoilt market wastes. Without markets on our roads, 80% of the wastes will reduce. I'm tired of repeating myself please.

@disloman @Avocado_Cados It will solve the issues of roadside wastes. Our pedestrian walkways will be used for its purpose. No sane society allows all their roadsides to be used as makeshift markets. Only animals will find it comfortable seeing markets on every road side.

@Lexxxxxxa_Buj @Avocado_Cados Lagos state is surrounded with a state that has large virgin lands that could be used as waste dumping sites. We are in a technology era where wastes can be converted to other useful things and make money. If Lagos state keeps handling it this as it is now.We are on a long things.

@Avocado_Cados Demolish all the roadside markets around that axis and it will end. Roadside markets constitutes 80% of wastes on the road.

Nobody knew the name of the commissioner for environment under Fashola because they got the job done and kept it moving. The reason why you see Tokunbo everywhere is because he’s constantly needing to defend the fact that he’s not good at his job
