Here’s my stance on Rashford: Despite some of the criticism, I think he’s had a very successful loan spell and done everything we’ve needed him to. However, signing him permanently for €30m + his hefty wages is a slippery slope, especially given we’d be adding yet another player past their prime who’s never realistically going to be more than a depth player. I’d rather the club use the funds to scope out a potential long term Raphinha replacement. At that price, you’re really not short of some really exciting developmental options. AND we’d be saving immense amounts of wage room. Can’t forget what got us into this mess in the first place. Short term thinking for long term detriments. I’m afraid deals like these trend in the same direction. €10m+ a year are superstar level wages in most other top clubs.
