In advance of today’s anticipated snowfall, salting and plowing began yesterday evening as snow began to accumulate. Plowing continues today across the city. As the snow is still falling, multiple rounds of snow clearing will be required to ensure that the roads, sidewalks and bikeways are safe and accessible. Snow clearing follows a priority sequence to keep people safe. ➡️Crews start with expressways and major (arterial) roads to ensure first responders and critical services can move freely. ➡️ Next, crews clear transit routes and collector roads to support public transit and community connectivity. ➡️ Finally, crews address residential streets to restore full mobility for everyone. Please consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you need to go out, give yourself extra time, travel with caution and consider taking public transit as there could be slippery conditions and delays. Whenever possible, park vehicles off the street, especially on major roads and snow routes, to help plows clear snow faster and more effectively. I spent the last two chilly evenings with a cameraman at the World Series watch party outside Toronto City Hall. Man, what a rollercoaster. When it was over we interviewed quite a few fans. They were disappointed, to be sure. But they showed remarkable pride and enthusiasm for a team that entertained the country through the summer and fall and nearly won a third championship.
(And more than one apologized for getting into our shot accidentally. How Canadian! )🇨🇦

This little guy was wandering on the road and across lawns. Stopping to fuss with a possible wound on his underbelly. Called Animal Control while my husband kept an eye on its movements. Truck and nice young woman arrived, gently caught & caged it. Thanks to the city for caring.

This morning, I returned to Scarborough to support a local man who was viciously beaten in a violent act of Islamophobia.
