I see now through this thread how seriously Men's violence should be accounted for when talking about trans women- I'd really need verifiable stats to back up the assertions made through.

Enjoyed my Parliament visit where Helen Joyce & I addressed a group of MPs. We showed that there are only 2 sexes, no intermediates. We got no dissent in the excellent Q & A. Evidently the “gender” warriors & the “Women can have a penis” science-deniers stayed away. @SexMattersOrg

@dspeaksshifty @RichardDawkins Additionally our words, and the meaning of "woman" is being replaced with "gender" - this has already brought into question the equality act, our sports, jobs, awards, positions in politics and our crime rates.

@twosheds35 @RichardDawkins I take your point, I do. And I'd agree, were we talking about reproductive rights. Trans rights though...hmm...I'll say this: as a man I have little to nothing I can/should contribute to women's rights conversations, but general human rights I believe I do, and can. And will.

I'll never say that there aren't men that will try this angle to satisfy their abuse of women. I suppose the trans people I know have allowed me the space to trust them and their motivations, as they are good people.

That said- you are allowing fear mongering and (probably a well deserved) distrust of anyone with a penis colour your thinking on this. My female wife and I are both pro trans rights. So....

@CassieDebus @dearaunty @RichardDawkins Again- no. Pediatric associations around the world have come out on the side of trans rights. Old attitudes are shifting, science changes and grows in order to not stagnate. But on gender and sex they've been right for 40 years with no further inquiry needed?
