A note to self: If I'm not the one chosen, that's okay. It's normal to feel disappointed. Pretending otherwise would be pointless. Being chosen by someone who matters to me would have been nice, and it's alright to acknowledge that. But disappointment isn't the end of the world, and it doesn't have to change the way I care. Their happiness was never supposed to depend on whether I got what I wanted. If something good comes their way, I should be able to be happy for them too. Not because I have to, but because I genuinely want them to do well. People don't owe me a place in their lives just because I hoped for one. Sometimes things simply don't work out the way I imagined. That doesn't make the moments we shared any less real, and it doesn't mean I have to walk away with bitterness. I can still cheer for them. I can still smile when they succeed. I can still listen to their stories, celebrate their achievements, and wish them well from wherever I happen to be. Support shouldn't only exist when things go my way. Maybe I won't be standing where I wanted to stand. Maybe I'll have to watch from a little farther away than I hoped. But that's alright too. The important thing is that life keeps moving. They'll continue growing, and so will I. And if they're happy, if they're making memories, if they're becoming the person they want to be, then that's something worth being glad about. So if the answer isn't me, let it be. Feel disappointed for a while, then let it go. There are some people who remain important even when they aren't yours to keep. And if good things happen to them, I hope I never stop smiling when I hear about it.

Oh, it's kinda like Arthurian legend mixed with modern fantasy. This girl finds out there's a secret society linked to King Arthur, and she's investigating her mum's death while discovering she has powers of her own. I really recommend it. I went in not knowing much about it and ended up getting completely hooked.
