Haven turned 32 today, is ILLMATIC still the greatest hip-hop album of all time, or has it been surpassed? Do you still have this album in rotation?

Just realized I have a song written for/about me featuring The Cavemen and Phyno and another with Wande Coal. That is… objectively very cool.

Legendary status doesn't automatically qualify someone for the top 10 best rappers in Nigerian history. Artists like 2Short and the Trybesmen members don't deserve spots there, as we must evaluate based on key criteria: lyricism, cultural impact, punchlines, commercial success, classic albums, longevity, and consistency. Now, assess whether they measure up against the likes of MI, Phyno, Olamide, or even Falz. Some people argue that simply being a pioneer makes you worthy of the top 10, which is laughable their only real criterion seems to be "doing it first." You could make a case for figures like Eedris Abdulkareem and Ruggedman, but let's scrutinize the criteria: Do they boast longevity compared to others? Classic albums? Superior lyricism? Sharp punchlines? They may have some cultural impact as pioneers and modest commercial success (though not matching many on the list), but does that outweigh deficiencies in the other areas? What frustrates me most is the inclusion of 2Short. Like 2 shorts ooo, he doesn't have no criteria over anybody. Ultimately, being a pioneer alone doesn't earn you a place on any such list—it's simply not a valid criterion. Dont use nostalgia as a yard stick for baseless criticism.
