@CarsRuinedCity bit of trivia: Cheonggyecheon Stream was covered up at a time when Korea was too poor to keep it clean/sanitary and restored when they could afford to maintain it.

@ThorntonWa47373 @VictorPytl I don’t think anyone is claiming the map lies. I think they’re claiming the ‘km’ written on the map is an abbreviation of kilometres, which are shorter than miles. 25km is about 15 miles.

Russia: Orthodox 'Priest' Sergey Akimochkin rammed into multiple cars while driving drunk and tried to flee the scene in Volgograd (Stalingrad). He cursed out the police who arrested him and threatened to convert to Islam.

@FixerForYou @YPerebyinis You do realise that the Russian federation was formed in 1991 and had nothing to do with the forming of any of the above mentioned cities, countries or unions then?

Today the capital of Ukraine Kyiv marks its holiday. Our beautiful city is more than 1500 y.o. 1,000 years ago, its population was almost 100,000, it was one of the 5 largest cities in Europe and looked like this. In the place where moscow is now, there was still a swamp then.

@MedvedevRussiaE I'd love to know exactly what aspect of Nazi ideology Medvedev is so against. He seems to be on board with everything except the specific symbols they use.

I’m reminding the citizens of the countries which are now fighting against Russia: over a million Soviet soldiers sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom from fascism in Europe. 600 thousand citizens of the USSR died, liberating Poland from fascism; 380 thousand gave their lives liberating Czechia and Hungary, over a 100 thousand – Germany.   Unfortunately, today’s Europe and its squalid leaders have a very short memory. But we will always remember the heroes of the Second World War. Our country eradicated fascism in 1945. Have no doubt: in present-day Europe, we will crush the hideous Bandera neo-nazism, cherished so dearly by the heirs of the third reich in the EU. For the sake of the memory of our fathers and grandfathers. Happy Great Victory Day!

@rorysutherland You made the mistake of using a simile to support your argument. Now people with no counter argument can just point out the two things aren't the same (like all similes) and continue thinking their disruptions are justified.

This is just me, but when did we conflate free speech with the right to disrupt things? I don't like football. This means I am free to tweet this. It doesn't give me the right to run onto the pitch with a placard saying "Not my sport."

@ukraine_map I don't necessarily believe this.. but one theory is that Putin did it so his successor doesn't have the option to turn it back on. Thus reducing his chance of falling from a window. (It did happen the same week Putin "annexed" Kherson just so his successor can't leave it alone)
