@LanYunfeng64 You really think each engineer is meaningfully increasing their output by 3-5x, and not only that, but maintaining any semblance of quality? Hoookay.

Wait wait wait waaait a second.... He's saying he wants his $500,000 engineer to actually cost him $750,000 by using $250,000 worth of AI tokens. Wasn't AI supposed to make things cheaper, not cost 50% more?
TFTC@TFTC21

Jensen Huang: "If that $500,000 engineer did not consume at least $250,000 worth of tokens, I am going to be deeply alarmed. This is no different than a chip designer who says 'I'm just going to use paper and pencil. I don't think I'm going to need any CAD tools.'"

BREAKING: Microsoft just announced several major changes to Windows 11 in an effort to win back user trust and evolve the platform into something people will actually want to use over macOS and Linux! It's a huge announcement that addresses Windows 11's biggest problems today, tackling core fundamental issues such as unreliable system performance, UX consistency, AI bloat and general enshittification. Microsoft has confirmed that this year, it WILL be reducing where ads and Copilot appear throughout the system, including in Start, Widgets, Notepad, Photos, and more! File Explorer and Windows Search will be upgraded with improved performance and capabilities that make finding apps and files much faster and easier. The OS will become lighter with less RAM and system utilization at idle, making it smoother to run on low end hardware with limited memory. These improvements will also benefit high-end PCs too. Windows Update will be improved with more granular controls and the ability to postpone updates for longer, along with reducing how often the OS needs to restart to install an update. Microsoft has also confirmed that it's bringing back fan favourite features such as the ability to move the Taskbar! It's also working to update more areas of the system shell with modern WinUI designs, which should make Windows 11 feel more coherent and complete. There's much more in the announcement, and it honestly all sounds too good to be true. Microsoft really is listening to feedback, and is eager to make Windows the BEST desktop OS on the market. More details including when these changes will arrive in the link! windowscentral.com/microsoft/wind…

@Pirat_Nation Seems like the laws don't cover the consumer when prices spike post purchase. The laws assume that getting a full refund at any point would be a win due to depreciation in value. There needs to be better protection for electronics that go up in price. Blame the law not Umart.

Australian retailer Umart refused to replace a faulty Corsair 32GB DDR5 kit bought in 2024 for about 155 AUD under warranty. They said a direct replacement would be an upgrade for the customer and offered only a refund of the original price. They also kept the faulty RAM, preventing a claim directly with Corsair. Corsair is now reviewing the case.

@Mrwhosetheboss Lmaoo. You can get a refurbished MacBook Air M1, M2, or even M3 for a much better value. It has Touch ID, a backlit keyboard, no mobile chip, and more RAM. Since the M5 is out soon, the previous models should get cheaper.

This new $599 MacBook Neo is STUPIDLY good value for money: -Still made of aluminium (feels VERY solid) -13 inch Display that still looks great -Powered by A18 Pro chip (but still feels fast) -16 hour battery life -No TouchID on base model -No keyboard backlighting (this one stings but I accept for the price) Working on a video now!

When VS Code already has the Source Control feature, why do developers still use Git commands in the terminal for pushing, committing, or cloning repositories? 👀

.exe files cannot run on Linux because they are made for Windows and Linux uses a completely different program format, so the system does not understand how to execute them. If a malicious site downloads a .exe file onto your Linux system, it will usually have no power and will just sit in your Downloads folder like a normal file. Linux also has strong security controls that prevent programs from running with administrator privileges by default, which means no file can make important system changes unless you explicitly allow it using sudo. In addition, Linux requires execute permission before any file can run, so simply downloading a file does nothing unless you manually give it permission and run it yourself. This means malicious files cannot automatically run, cannot become admin, and cannot harm the system without your direct action.
