Absolutely agree. My view for a long time. They get away no matter how sloppy & despite all the failures. They practice "collective responsibility" which actually means, no one is responsible. We don't need a Gov change but a complete overhaul of its services & agencies.

Dubai gets more attention, but many often forget that Singapore is almost as soulless. Literally an artificial "city" (i.e. a collection of roads and buildings) created out of thin air. More people should know that Singapore is not a sovereign country. Not least because of its existential exposure to the US financial system. The empire can crush Singapore like a bug overnight if it steps out of line. While it allows leaders of the "city state" to make the occasional statement or two about US hegemony, the minute Singapore takes any material action on the ground against US abuse, the "country" is finished. And it knows it. In this case, Singapore *completely* abided by US secondary sanctions on Iran, that were fully and unequivocally in violation of international law. "Principles" didn't come in the way then. But now when Iran defends itself against US aggression, and is even willing to give Singapore favorable terms, then suddenly "principles" start mattering. We are a country of principles after all.

Kalau kerajaan bagi RM400 cash terus kepada isi rumah B60, kos dia lebih kurang RM2 bilion sebulan. Banding subsidi petrol pukul rata yang boleh cecah RM6 bilion sebulan. Bantuan sampai terus pada rakyat yang perlukan, bukan lagi ikut siapa pakai minyak paling banyak.

The most annoying thing about being human on Earth right now is the absolute waste of potential. Brilliant minds and artists could be solving world hunger, climate change, and ending cancer, etc. We could house, feed, clothe, and care for everyone. But instead, we’ve decided to let a handful of asshats become billionaires, start wars, murder and imprison people, and keep the majority in poverty while ruining the climate. It’s so stupid. The wasted ingenuity hurts to think about.

So will our principled neighbours call out this infringement of international law? 🙂
