Disliking Prof X, Alioth, and to a lesser extent, Annihilus; is akin to disliking counter magic in MTG. for those unfamiliar, counter spells are cards that don’t allow your opponents cards to ever see the board. In response, you counter them, making it so they essentially were never played. The balance is that though widely hated (mostly from the perspective of new or casual players) they tend to help keep other decks in check. Control decks are the natural police of any format. Alioth and Professor X do the same thing, making it so that your opponent never had the chance to play the card in the first place. Though, the downside is similar, where counter magic is easily susceptible to early pressure and an over abundance of cards, Prof X and Alioth are in the same boat. Folding often to early power generation where their own lack of power ends up being detrimental. The point is, though you may find them frustrating, they are entirely necessary in the meta and need to be there to keep things in check. Just like leech.

@bootmanmstz 4 here. Wanted snowgaurd also. Of course I get 1000 tokens first cache and the hit monkey on 2. Had to go all in for 4 to get alioth. Seems like this is the norm for me. Wonder if it’s stacked against us for the new card. All 3 times I wanted the new card took 4 tries…

Hot take I guess? Loki is fine. It’s the mirror matches and the overall popularity of the card that’s making the game miserable Just like the first 72 hours of High Evo Could he be tuned down in power? Sure. But let’s all breathe for a moment before we grab our pitchforks
