@notcloakzy1 You should hit up TopShelfAquatics… I’ve been in the reef/tank hobby for a long time and they’re stellar. I can hook you up with a contact there

@Gothalion Reality is too, no matter how much the devs plan for, the business always cuts corners and that typically means it’s harder in the long run to scale should something of this nature happen. Now all resources are consumed just trying to meet demand.

@Gothalion Dev here who has to deal with scaling… It all depends on the various systems but each component takes time to scale up and integrate into the larger ecosystem, stabilize and then migrate load across the new systems.

Devs. I’m aware that “just get more servers” is an ignorant take from folks when it comes to games hitting capacity. Would someone smart explain exactly why scaling up from expected traffic is complicated and the steps that would be necessary to do so?

@GoldGloveTV The questing is just so tedious and if you don’t keep up with the pack it gets exponentially harder and harder to complete. Cheating…

What’s stopping you from playing Escape from Tarkov? I know someone reading this has been on the fence and you just haven’t fired up the game. Tell me why.

@ScottyTidwell Isn’t 6 years for reservist? I believe active is 2 years. va.gov/education/elig… Either way, the principle is still the same and so is the question, should they also get a gov funded education if the contract with the gov no longer is beneficial?

@ScottyTidwell For clarity, I’m 100% ok with the GI Bill and happy that it exists to help people transition, irrespective of if it worked out or not

@ScottyTidwell Now let’s tack on that if your son completes his 4 years and decides it’s not for him, his college tuition is now funded by the gov… free to him. Should they get a free ride if their decision to join the military didn’t pan out?

@ScottyTidwell Keep in mind, we’re talking public service workers or workers where the cost of the education exceeds your ability to pay back the loan in a reasonable amount of time

@ScottyTidwell At the end of the 4 years, you can choose not to reup if you don’t believe that contract is going to benefit you in the long run. In terms of a degree, if you get to 4 years and the degree you earned cannot sustain you financially to pay that back, you’re forced too

@ScottyTidwell In almost every other developed nation, college/uni is funded by the public. The US is an outlier in how we educate and pay for it.

@ScottyTidwell That’s apples/oranges. Signing a contract where the govt controls you is significantly different than if you take out a loan. The thing with forgiveness, at least in this case for MAMY public service workers is that it already exists.

@ScottyTidwell I don’t think I disagree in principle but because they’re gov backed loans it would create an ever larger problem. The easiest solution is the forgiveness based on income, imo. This is coming from someone who wouldn’t come close to qualifying for that anyway lol

@itsctrlfreq imo people should be able to file bankruptcy on student debit - and it should be treated just like any other debit but it should not be some free loan forgiveness meanwhile people who lost their jobs are filing chapter 7

Kids these days will never know the feeling of waking up at 5:30am after a big snow storm and watching the local news waiting to see your school name at the bottom of the screen.
