Worth noting they did try this in 2022 with the Earn It Act, but after mass pushback the bill didn't succeed. So these proposals *can* be stopped, but it really does take a mass pushback and awareness.

And they KNOW that. But they're hoping the general public doesn't and gets worked up about CSAM online to give them cover to pass these laws and finally destroy the internet. And YES. The same people behind the push to censor games, age verification, are the same behind this.

They are using the excuse of CSAM to go after Section 230. Theyre acting like Big Tech does nothing about CSAM and isnt liable for it, which is a blatant lie. That content is one of the few Big Tech can be held liable for keeping up. Theres already laws in place against it.

So what happens? Either two things: 1) The website mass censors the type of content you can post, think extreme Disney-fication of everything, and automatically takes down anything that could get someone even somewhat upset 2) You can no longer post. Or comment. Or anything.

Let's say a website has 300 million users. Every single one of them is posting multiple things a day. Thats billions and billions of posts. Without Section 230, any one can sue the website for posts for any reason. Millions of lawsuits, even Facebook can't keep up with that.

There would be no twitter, no Instagram, no youtube, no comment sections on blog posts, NOTHING. All user-generated content gone. Why? Because Section 230 prevents companies from being liable from what their users post (unless it's illegal). Thats a good thing. Let me explain:

Worse than age verification is the idea of repeating Section 230. Section 230 is the law that created the internet. It protects you as a user and prevents censorship. If they repeal Section 230, the internet could literally disappear overnight. I wish I was being hyperbolic.
