Netanyahu says Israel will not withdraw from Lebanon. The IRGC say if Israel doesn’t leave by Friday, they won’t even sign the memorandum of understanding. If Israel does withdraw, it is political suicide by Bibi. If they don’t, Trump will have to find a way to make IRGC happy.

I agree with everything you say related to the MOU “deal”, Trump’s goals and objectives. The US had a myopic view going in. There was always going to be a departure from what the Iranian people were promised regarding “help” and their desire for regime change. The Iranian people will be left to suffer unless Israel continues and the Iranians can rise up internally. I suspect this is a problem. The Iranian Army will not join the people and an uprising is not yet feasible. Israel has greater urgency, risk, requirements and responsibility regarding the Islamic Regime their threats to Israeli sovereignty and safety. It is unfortunate that these were ignored by the US. Israel was shut out of the negotiations and their needs ignored. It is looking like Trump may be prepared to carefully back step out of this. One possibility. Pure politics. However, the other more likely scenario is that this Non-deal MOU falls apart well before the 60 day extension as the terms are still far apart and unachievable. Perhaps Trump is planning on this. Iran will break this directly or through Hezbollah. They are still playing for time and survival. The only answer, and it is inevitable, is further war and the elimination of the IRGC / Islamic Regime.

A reminder that this is NOT the deal. Despite what President Trump or Pakistan say. This is an extension to the ceasefire with a harder commitment that traps the IRGC. If no deal is reached during this period, we are back to square one.

In the late seventies I crossed the Atlantic on the QE2. I went First Class, which I paid for with my first real paycheck. We had a mandatory dress code for dinner. Black Tie and commensurate formal wear for the ladies. It was one of my favorite memories.

The conflict with Iran had two goals - to make sure they did not build a nuclear weapon and to end their sponsorship of terror. This deal achieves both. Trump never promised regime change. That would be impossible without a full-blown invasion and that was not going to happen. Now maybe Iran will play it safe and join the global community as a peaceful partner.
