@domic137 really simple actually the ESP32 is connected to wi-fi and plugged into a NEPA-only socket in my house. it sends a ping to the backend each minute to check if there's still a connection and if the server doesn't get one back after 60s then that means the ESP32 (and light) is off

the web app i've been working on to detect whenever there's light at my home wherever in the world i am is finally working as intended all thanks to this

here's what it looks like in use microcontroller is plugged into the wall and connected to wifi sending pings every minute > if the server doesn't detect a ping within a minute it means there's no light and it logs it > also hooked up to a Telegram bot that sends notifs each log
