@xwawa09 Yes, I don’t deny that she’s a victim, but I hate when people use that point to defend her when others criticize her—it ends up stripping her of agency and pushing her to the margins, turning her into a prop in discussions where no one cares about her perspective.

I feel the same, which is why I hate when people call her just a victim—an ignorant, pitiful girl—while ignoring that she’s actually one of the most strong-willed characters, brave and unafraid to stand up to those in power and do what she believes is right.

But even in that case, Hinamori narrative treatment in Bleach in general tends to reduce her to "the broken girl manipulated by Aizen" which reinforces this picture of her ( specifically in the fandom space). I am been too woke or ?? 😭

Like as if a woman couldn't be held responsible for her choices because she was necessarily manipulated by a man (Aizen) it strips her of all moral autonomy. Paradoxically, it is “nicer” to her on paper, but it is actually a form of condescension—

while Hinamori is automatically classified as a “brainwashed victim” without really being given credit for having her own convictions even if they were wrong, the problem is that it infantilizes Hinamori (she around the same age as Hisagi and Kira btw)—
