@SonnetToMoon Guilty as charged. I think I've always been the type to tuck memories into songs and leave them there for safekeeping. Sometimes I can't even hear a melody without remembering a specific season, person, or version of myself. That's a beautiful suggestion. I'll give it a try.

@lastinthevoid i think you succeeded in doing exactly that. even without knowing the story behind it at first, i could feel that sense of distance, hope, and tenderness in the way you played it. it's lovely how music can preserve feelings that words sometimes struggle to hold.
