NCP has gone into administration. They’ve been running car parks since 1931, and somehow ended up £305m in debt. Surely the maintenance for a car park is simple: ticket machines, barriers, lights, and occasional cleaning. How can a business model literally based on people paying to park go bankrupt?

Liverpool legend Alan Hansen, 70, was recently spotted enjoying a relaxed stroll with his wife, Janet, at the exclusive Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados, looking fit and well following his hospitalisation last year. The couple were seen soaking up the sun on the island’s west coast, just weeks after Hansen made an emotional return to Anfield to present the Premier League trophy to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. Hansen was hospitalised in June 2024 with a serious illness and discharged after around two weeks. News of his recovery was met with widespread relief across the football world. When he reappeared at Anfield to present the trophy, supporters were visibly moved. “Great to see Alan Hansen looking so happy. Easily the best defender of my lifetime,” one fan wrote on X. Another added, “Brilliant to see Alan Hansen looking so well — true club legend.” During his illustrious playing career, Hansen made 620 appearances for Liverpool between 1977 and 1991, winning eight First Division titles, three European Cups, two FA Cups and three League Cups. Widely regarded as one of the finest defenders of his generation, he combined composure on the ball with outstanding positional intelligence. After retiring, Hansen turned down opportunities in management to pursue a career in broadcasting. He became a mainstay on the BBC’s Match of the Day from 1992 until 2014, covering six World Cups and five European Championships, and establishing himself as one of the most respected pundits in the game. In 2025, Hansen was awarded an MBE for services to football and broadcasting, later receiving the honour at Windsor Castle. His recent public appearances have underlined both his recovery and his enduring connection to Liverpool Football Club.
