@RyanMPaton I don't remember very many instances where they got the severity of a suspension right. I don't understand why it's so hard to send a message. You start dropping guys 20 and 25 games, they will figure it out

@patersonjeff I read somewhere the Ruck Brothers in Medicine Hat are projected to go in the early to mid 2nd round. Do you see a scenario where they try and maneuver to draft them together like Burke did with the Sedins?

@noahstrang_ It's absolutely painful to watch. A team that seems to play completely void of any structure. No speed. No passes on the tape. Though I can't imagine it's very fun playing hockey right now, they still have a job to do out there.

@cullenoncurling You don't think Mike and Flasch and the Marshies go another full cycle?

The first guy I think of here as an example is Mike McEwen. Again, I don't know for sure, but I think he'd consider playing a few more years if he could assemble a good team around him. Will he be able to do that? Not sure. With the retirements, the player pool is shrinking a bit

Most certainly retirements will have an effect, especially since I think some players in that retirement age range haven't decided because it will be team-dictated. If you can't find a good mix of players, you'd probably rather hang them up than play out the string
David Wright🇨🇦🇺🇲@dwrig099

@cullenoncurling I can see a few retirements this yr. There's already some big ones announced early season, but I think there are more to come.

@HockeyDaveT Was it Bryan Allan that tied the 99 world junior in Winnipeg with 5 minutes left in reg? Luc Bourdon tying 07 semi against USA in 3rd period. Not game winners but goals I remember being huuuuge

Asking out of curiosity…can anyone w/historical Canadian hockey knowledge help: What’s the biggest goal a 🇨🇦 Defenceman has scored in International play?! My big goal list has: 97, 87, Sakic, Henderson to name a few…but, what’s the biggest from a D-man?! Thanks for suggestions

Oh my word what a save by Ann-Renée Desbiens. Wicked action in this game at both ends of the ice. It’s still 1-0 Canada as we get closer to the midway point of the game.

@blkfatigue1 @rockchannelcurl 🤣🤣🤣 yeah don't confuse Canada's curling team with the parry in power. Two completely different things. Try again.

@rockchannelcurl You are trying so hard to downplay this cheating scandal we’re not going to let you. We’re not gonna allow some liberal country to gaslight us. What Mark did was wrong his reaction was worse. Canada is a laughing stock right now.

What an absurd cope. Not one other Olympic team is doing this very very clear rule violation as a habit - now or in the past- and the officials are perfectly capable of calling it - the pressure comes from not calling it while the violation is on tape… And of course the shot is affected, that’s why the rule is there and why the Canadian team is doing it …Delete this

…The reality is, no curling official at these Olympics has ever been asked to make this call in a competition before, and expecting them to do so under such intense pressure is a tough ask—especially when the outcome of the shot is almost certainly unaffected…

@DonnieandDhali I guess that speaks to the leadership and the culture that has unfortunately shown to be not enough the last 18 months. The leaders and veterans haven't done enough and the results show.

@ThomasDrance Do they ever try and find a trade partner for Lankinen? I know he was a large reason that they were remotely competitive in 2025. But this year he hasn't looked good which is tough with how poorly his team has played in front of him.

#Canucks very fortunate to only be down a goal after 20 minutes in Salt Lake City. Mammoth getting just about whatever they want in the offensive zone, but some missed opportunities and Kevin Lankinen have kept this close.

@cullenoncurling Pretty much ended up looking like a bunch of nothing in the end. Definitely agree no mind games.

This also excuses the fact that genuinely Skrlik could have, within the rules, moved their stone to a more advantageous position and declined. If they were playing “mind games”, it seems to me they would do that

Poor response imo. Absolutely no part of how Skrlik handled the situation looked like mind games. The rock was burnt, it was a crucial stone, they asked the officials for advice, then followed that advice. Plus, Sturmay were almost certainly shot and had won the game already
Rock Channel@rockchannelcurl

“Just still kind of confused what the whole debacle was there.” Alberta’s Selena Sturmay speaks on the “mind games” she felt were at play in the final end tonight against her provincial rivals in Team Skrlik.

@patersonjeff Oh yeah for sure. As soon as the stick is in there its almost automatic and both refs had the arm up. But then they show the replay and.....it looked pretty weak. But...overall I'll take that for a road period for the most part. I think Tolopilo needs some more starts.

Boeser's had some assertive shifts in first period. Hopefully weak hook doesn't come back to bite them. Ah, forget it. 1-1 tie.

@AaronGleeman So we have another Jerry Krause type thinker with the team? Organizations in their entirety can be completely irrelevant too.

I asked Tom Pohlad about his repeated use of the word "relentless" in regard to winning and how he can square that with dramatically decreased payrolls over the past several years and a current payroll around $100 million. Pohlad's response: x.com/AaronGleeman/s…

Aaron Gleeman@AaronGleeman

Tom Pohlad notably used the word "relentless" in both a press release quote and a separate email sent to Twins season ticket holders. Phrasing in press release: "Relentless pursuit of a championship." Phrasing in message to season ticket holders: "Relentless focus on winning."

@DonnieandDhali He has been impactful and at the very least noticeable during games this season. Maybe not running the goal tally up but huge defensive presence. I do believe he would benefit from playing with another strong offensive winger that isn't going to be Garland or Kane.
