@MichaelPTKelly The one thing all these types have in common is that they reject the very "synodality" that they call for. If he was Pope tomorrow he'd stamp out Latin mass and anything else he didn't like, and force his view on everyone.

Fr Flannery makes so many false assumptions - no-one ever ‘promised’ the Church would abandon its core teachings…nor is the Church ‘struggling’ to embrace Tony’s agenda. That one-way ticket to oblivion has been rejected. thejournal.ie/readme/pope-le…

Thomas Byrne has done a damn lot more for people in Meath than Peadar Tóibín. Non Fianna Fáil voters consistently vote for Thomas too. That tells you all you need to know!

I’ll tell you who @Toibin1 is. He’s a politician who cares about his constituents and fights with them, not against them. @ThomasByrneTD, you need to realise you work for the people and not for yourself. This protest has highlighted the incompetence of the leadership, and if you can’t see that, I pity your constituents.

@DavQuinn It's a pity the two men at the top are both preachy, condescending and aggressive/go on the attack when under pressure. Not a fan but at least Varadkar could go on TV and appear to be defusing a situation or say the right thing. Neither Harris nor Martin have that ability.

It says much about the Irish far right movement that they spent all week trying to *prevent* their fellow citizens getting to work+ hospital appointments while blockading fuel depots to deprive people of fuel. There’s a reason Irish people keep rejecting them at the ballot box.

Who on earth do you think you are? Would do you better to worry about the commuters and health services of Meath and let the civic authorities do their job.

@ThomasByrneTD Maybe you should drop the condescending tone and put your efforts into alleviating the burden of this crisis on your constituents rather than talking crap about a hard-working TD who is prepared to work across party lines and isn't just a yes-man for a party boss like so many FFG

Should we tell them that the carbon tax rate for us, the average taxpayers, is so high because farmers, despite being one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions, pay a much lower percentage and we need to make up for it?

Fine Gael understands the pressures that people are under. Tánaiste @SimonHarrisTD is appealing to those blocking access to refineries and fuel depots to go home. We are working on supports but we need the blockade to end and our economy and society to function again.

@Toibin1 The govt have always agreed to talk to representatives . Which they are doing. This meeting was arranged before these protesters took over. They are not genuine protesters they are saboteurs. You are so bad on this

We want to find a solution to the Fuel Price Protests. The solution is dialogue. We appeal to the government to sit down and talk to the campaign.

It is unconscionable and illogical that amidst a global supply crisis, blockades are pushing Ireland to the precipice of turning away vital oil shipments to international buyers.

@fiannafailparty @MichealMartinTD FF really not reading the room on this. It's a pity both the Taoiseach and Tainiste are over-sensitive and go straight to attacking and lecturing rather than attempting to understand anyone who disagrees with them.

We accept the right of people to protest but this is not a fair protest. Denying people the right to fuel and to clean water. These are essentials. Warnings to pregnant women to go much earlier to health appointments because of the blockade is not fair.
