I worked on a trans health research project where trans staff members were getting misgendered by cis staff and the PIs asked the trans folks to lead a training for the cis staff. Oh, and they fired the only Black trans woman on the team 2 weeks into the pandemic.

One unexpected surprise of completing campus visits is the connections you make. After my campus visits this cycle, I've had five people (all MSW or PhD students) join the queer/trans research team I lead. It makes this job search process so much more worth it.
