And as the min wage rises, regular salaries don't. So many people will begin to ask themselves 'why am I working this highly stressful job that needed qualifications and a tonne of bullshit paperwork and police checks just to earn 5k more a year than I would stacking shelves at Lidl?'

@boymoderology Working in a healthcare/social care environment is really hard and should only be done by those who really, really care about it. Unsociable hours, shifts all over the place, really terrible pay considering the important work being done. Really needs sorting out by government.

This is exactly what's happened to Mum. An ATM is just how it feels - someone who expected to be financially OK to the end will soon be completely cleaned out, and dependent on council funding. At 98 we'll have to fight to keep her where's become home. The system is broken.
