@HRMFireNews Not every incident needs a public alert or a public inquiry. There I said it.

There are a growing number of questions about the emergency alerting system, particularly with regard to timeliness and procedure, that need to be answered. As far as I know, it’s managed by provincial EMO. Would be in their interest to clarify to the public how things work.

STN65 wants to know if command wants the Utility to roll for fend off. You can't fend off with a light apparatus on a 100 series highway. In any event, PC1W advises 56 is responding and the utility is not required.

@nsoldguy @HRMFireNews That was mostly seasonal staff and part time. Smoke and mirrors.

@nsfiredispatch @HRMFireNews few weeks ago hrm gave notices out to 1500 staff about layoffs

@fraserscott17 @HRMFireNews So stop following and engaging. If you want to have a balanced conversation about the facts then let’s do it.

2M compensation for volunteers? No, they’re paid on call. Stop calling them volunteers. Volunteers receive no compensation for their contributions.
If there’s a 40% reduction in calls then the compensation rate won’t change.
Halifax Fire News@HRMFireNews
Second, major cuts to volunteers. HRFE volunteer honorariums proposed to be reduced by 770K. I gather the total pool has been somewhere around 2M, so this would represent a nearly 40% cut. GSAR grant proposed to be cut by 50%.
English

@HRMFireNews It was a general statement not directed at you. You do a great job raising awareness of the fire department that can’t be found elsewhere. Providing facts to the public is what’s needed. Facts like “volunteers” are very well compensated compared to every other NS fire department
English

@nsfiredispatch I'll call them what I feel like calling them, thanks. I've made no secret of the fact they get paid.
English

@fraserscott17 40% reduction to TOTAL compensation available but not to the firefighters if the call volume has dropped by the same amount.
English

@HRMFireNews If 4 members are listed as responding then no 2nd page. This is a big issue since it doesn’t look at response time.
