San Jose’s pitching staff combined for a four-hit, 14-strikeout shutout with Greg Farone punching out 9 over his five inning start (5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K) and  Cade Vernon adding 3 Ks before Ben Peterson closed out the victory with two more strikeouts on Friday over Rancho Cucamonga.   Robert Hipwell’s two-run triple knocked in the only runs of the game to secure the victory for the Giants.
