Those Salah quotes don’t bode well for Arne Slot. Were this simply a declining player hitting out as he’s justifiably sidelined, then it’d be different. But many of those selected ahead of him aren’t justifying it, which makes it seem like the issue is the setup, not one man.

Slot came to Liverpool with massive boots to fill, and came without an ego or the need for drastic change. Subtle tweaks and a calmer approach. Won number 20. Yet, we’re still not seeing anywhere near the football he introduced at Feyenoord. My issue is we’re not seeing any signs of any sort of system that represents The Liverpool Way. Overly cautious, too happy to pass round the back, and a bit of a negative, counter attacking approach. It’s not like watching Liverpool. When the teams implementing a style of play and are trying it, you can accept that things won’t always go to plan, but at the minute I see no plan and no style. These players need to be on the front foot none stop, and it’s as if they’re not allowed to. I feel like they’re forced to reserve energy at all costs. He’s playing with names instead of rewarding the inform players, and when it’s not working he lashes every sub on in hope something clicks.
