@CMooreAnderson I really like this. Question for me is whether pupils derive this understanding at the end, after learning about lots of different examples of systems or whether it’s helpful at the start. Perhaps bit of both: zooming in to look at examples & zooming out to consider principles.

Enjoying @alomshaha reminding us that practical work is important beyond illustrating substantive concepts. Take, for example, the idea of verification: "every child to have the experience of using a microscope...verify for yourself that cells are real". Absolutely!
