I remembered how I joined my elder sister praying and hoping Agbani Darego would win Miss World 2001. She became the first Black African winner and made history that day. Our house erupted in shouts of joy that still live rent-free in my head.
Nigeria was set to host Miss World 2002 as the winner’s country. It was meant to be our big moment to showcase our culture, tourism, and potential.
But the religion that keeps giving “peace upon peace” happened.
Conservative Muslim groups called the pageant immoral. Riots broke out, especially in Kaduna, with churches torched and over 200 lives lost. The “religion of peace” could not tolerate women in evening gowns and swimsuits.
The organisers had no choice but to pack the girls and flee to London. The grand event that should have brought Nigeria global glory was forced out of the country.
Till date, it still disappoints me deeply.
The same group of people keeps spoiling any speck of goodness that finds its way here.👌🏾

You know what’s really annoying me on this app? It’s how you make a post and someone rushes to say you are looking for Elon’s money because they don’t like what you posted.
You think it’s that easy to get Elon’s money? Ask the many people who subscribed and then got tired and stopped. A few likes and impressions on a post are not enough to get Elon’s money. Even people fooling around with posts and rage-baiting to get attention know this.
Why do you think big accounts are looking for verified accounts’ engagement so badly? You will need plenty of verified accounts commenting on your posts and impressions to get paid.
Most of us just enjoy the features that come with the bluetick, and that’s why we keep subscribing. If it’s for Elon’s money, I won’t be posting about politics and insecurity.
Go and ask people who subscribed and stopped to tell you: if your sole purpose of subscribing is to earn, you will have to do more than just posting, because without verified accounts commenting on your posts, a lot of likes, bookmarks, and impressions on most of your posts, you can spend years here without earning shishi.

I was just scrolling on X this afternoon and got a message notification from Facebook. I opened it only to see it was my overseas ex whom I dated in 2021. I broke up with him a year later, and he started threatening me and wouldn’t let me end it. He said my soul belongs to him and started doing some incantations. I begged him to calm down first and assured him I wasn’t going anywhere, then blocked him everywhere.
Later, I found out from someone close to his family that he has heavy mental issues.
When I saw his “hi” today on Facebook, I started praying and begging God. Please, if my village people do me, I have suffered enough nah. Not again please😂🙏🏽

44 people dead, you will never find AREWA influencers talking about the killings of "their people" on this app.
They are rather more focused on washing the image their religion. Bunch of losers.

A country where its citizens are charged with their security 🤧.
Even if we stay alert, then what next?

As a COO, I’ve learned that strong leadership is about building systems that outlast any one person. In Nigeria today, we keep facing the same governance challenges because we recycle people instead of fixing the processes. #Inec #Judiciary #Police 🇳🇬
