As of this week, U.S. travelers need to apply for authorization to enter the United Kingdom. I went through this process myself to figure out what's the best way (app vs. website), how long it takes, and which credit card to use. Here's my report: awardwallet.com/blog/uk-eta-us…

@jasontravelblog I find a good rule of thumb is that the flight should be no longer than 1 hour per night at your destination (7 night trip = maximum 7 hour flight). I've done longer and it's manageable, but difficult!

Alright #TravelTwitter , help me out a little with advice / recommendations. Where is the furthest (from England) you think is feasible for a week-long trip? Recommendations for Winter sunshine? Who are you using to book your (solo) trips?

📱I’m looking for an eSim for Thailand, I usually use Airalo but their smallest package is 10 days and 50gb but I only really need a couple of gbs, mostly to fill out the Malaysia entry form and a few other bits…any other recommendations for good companies?

@tspadventure Two things that might work: 1) Don't download IG on your phone, just check it via your computer/web browser. That usually means less mindless scrolling! 2) If you use the app, set time limits for how long you can spend on it. I keep it to 10 minutes daily.

Debating getting back on Instagram...😬 Not for my blog (abandoned that years ago!) but for my personal acct (which I stopped using in Jul '23). I miss seeing what my friends are up to, but worry about comparison game/FOMO. Thoughts? Ways to use IG w/o hurting mental health?

Back to travel now. Who has been to Kuala Lumpur🇲🇾? I'm not sure what area to stay in. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations? Looking for £40pn & under...open to hostels but private rooms (will be solo). I'm planning maybe 3 nights (would like to see Batu Cave & the towers)

@betweenengland Contrarian opinion: If you're arriving late at night, that is the BEST time to taxi/grab into the city because there's no traffic. If you sleep at an airport hotel & wait to transfer until the next morning, you'll be sitting at standstill.

@sightDOING Yeah I didn’t know if there were areas to avoid either 🙈 I was thinking about being near the towers and then on getting the train or taking a grab to batu caves. My flight would land quite late though & leave quite early so I might stay near airport for a night too.

@Travelwithmia I'm just so off-guard because I felt like a million bucks on Sunday & Monday and thought I had magically survived the trip. But then reality hit!

@sightDOING This is how my body always reacts. My husband and I learned this after our honeymoon over a decade ago. We ate Lean Cuisines and watched Scandal. Since then, we always order groceries immediately we return from a trip.

Anyone else wake up at 3am starving and wide awake? No, just me? I think this is the first time I've had a delayed reaction to jetlag.

Also now that I visited Turkmenistan, I can take my profile off private again!* *Hiding my "internet presence" (hard to do with published bylines....) was a strong recommendation for getting a visa. But it worked!

I am currently 80 miles from the city of Batman, Türkiye and am kicking myself for not arranging my plans so I could fly in or out of Batman airport (BAL, service to Istanbul & Ankara).
