The fact England hasn’t been selected to stage the World Cup since 1966 is (literally) criminal. There is not a country on the planet that has a higher volume, value, quality and concentration of World class stadiums, grounds, training facilities, infrastructure, diverse community, culture, history, hospitality and overall fan fever pitch to host the World’s beautiful game. Due to the FIFA continental host rules we probably can’t expect earlier than a 2042 window. If that’s the case we should go ALL IN for 2042. A joint England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland bid. Jesus wept, I’ll be 67. Guess the best things come to those who wait 😬😬😬

@KeithMillsD7 In 82 Germany and Austria blatantly match fixed to advance to the next round at the expense of Algeria And got away with it. No punishment, no reprimand, nothing

@cowlonfull From what I’ve gathered, people won’t root for them because they hate Trump and he’s the current president and because Pulisic did the “Trump dance” once, and they hate Trump. Has little to do with the team and everything to do with politics, which is stupid

You don’t support the USMNT for moral reasons, I can respect it. But everyone in the country you pick detests you as an American and doesn’t care if you’re one of the good ones or not. I like the Scottish team but everyone there absolutely hates me. I can’t do it!

@cowlonfull What “moral reason” is there to not root for USMNT? And don’t say anything about politics because politics have absolutely nothing to do with sports and vice versa

This is also why I have stopped following teams in other countries. I like Celtic and I like Everton and I agree with those fanbases on just about every issue but they just hate you and there’s nothing you can do about it. I’d rather be in a fanbase where I can belong

@cowlonfull Hating the U.S. for moral reasons is fine if you’re supporting, say Denmark But don’t think many of these countries can boast very good morality, especially if you look at their histories

Everyone all “they’re preparing for the knockout rounds” 1. They don’t know where their knockout games will be (if they win the group the first will be in Atlanta, indoors) 2. The risk of injuring, maiming, or even killing English players through this training is not zero

Here’s what I don’t understand England’s games are in: Arlington, Tex (indoors) Foxborough, Mass (climate comparable to Europe) East Rutherford, NJ (5pm kickoff) Why is Tuchel training the team in South Florida in the summer? Are they training for guerilla warfare in Vietnam?
No Context World Cup@NoContextEPL

England players are said to be already struggling with the climate in Florida in their training sessions.🥵 Expecting the heat to be a huge topic of conversation among pundits and analysts throughout this World Cup.

@soccersource If they are training at InterMiami's facilities then the natural connection is David Beckham. But, I am not entirely sure that is the case here.

@soccersource I reckon it's more likely that he's hoping to make the knockout stages than training for guerrilla warfare in Vietnam, but admittedly, I am only speculating.

7. In the modern era (post 1970) nations playing their first World Cup have typically not done very well Just two made it out of their group: Croatia in 98 and Senegal in 02 Four nations make their debut this year: Uzbekistan, Cape Verde, Curacao, Jordan

Some World Cup facts 1. Only eight nations have won this tournament: 🇧🇷 🇫🇷 🇮🇹 🇩🇪 🇦🇷 🇺🇾 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇪🇸 Uruguay haven’t won since 1950, a completely different era England only won in 1966, also a different era and as hosts Italy aren’t here So realistically that leaves five
