Note that price is not the single factor that matters, it’s an unfair comparison to talk about price without mentioning finality and security: If we submit proof only once a day and go with state diff, that will lower the cost to probably 30x more. However, we choose to 1) Provide the best finality without locking users’ asset — you can always bridge out from Scroll in an hour or even 20 minutes through official bridge regardless of the amount. 2) Provide anyone the ability to re-execute from complete transaction data (higher security to hedge against zkEVM bug, easier for multi-prover and anyone can get faster confirmation even before proof is posted). Those leads to a bit higher price, but the cost of Scroll will be the same level in the next 1-2 month even without compromising those factors. One more thing, I am talking about pure tech aspect, subsidize doesn’t fall into any category and should be orthogonal. The current price in some comparison charts is due to projects subsidizing fees through foundation — it’s a reasonable market move but shouldn’t be used as benchmark for tech.
