"Song 2" got its name because it was literally the second song Blur recorded for the album Blur (1997). Damon Albarn improvised the "WOO-HOO!" during a take, as a joke to mock the heavy and aggressive sound of American grunge. The label wanted to release something more "commercial" as a single, but the band insisted on releasing this short, noisy and chaotic track, and eventually became the biggest international hit of Blur's career.
