i am an album person, i like to listen to albums, but even before then, I like to know who the artist is and what is important to them.
but if your album isn’t cohesive, I will not be listening a second time.

A music album has one core job: to be a cohesive body of work. There are many ways to achieve this but thematic consistency across topics and musical style are the main ones.

this is an album that is the natural next step after boy alone.
it offers everything, this is growth, this is development, this is coping mechanism. This is how he deals with the struggle.
I’m grateful that the album came at the time it did. I have never needed anything more.

most people take the album and listen to the songs as if they are singles.
no context as to who he is, no understanding of his previous works, not looking at the theme of the album, just take each song individually and say it “offers nothing new”.
