@FabrizioRomano @City_Xtra The guy brought this club out of the trenches and made them relevant in England and Europe, many have failed to do that, so his stint would have been very successful even with 1 UCL trophy. He deserves some credit and a break

@FabrizioRomano @City_Xtra Pep’s humor is unmatched 😂 Even with all the noise and sky-high expectations, the man’s still locked in with a year left and that signature confidence. Legends don’t fold under pressure they joke about it.

Pep’s defiance is classic, but let’s be honest, one Champions League in nearly a decade at City would be seen by many as underachievement, not triumph. With the billions spent, the dominance in England, and the squad depth he’s enjoyed, critics argue that anything less than multiple UCL titles exposes a gap between his domestic brilliance and European legacy. His playful “fire me” remark might sound charming, but it also dodges the uncomfortable truth: Guardiola’s reputation as the greatest manager of his generation feels incomplete without more European silverware. Do you think his legacy is secure regardless, or will history judge him harshly if he leaves City with just that single UCL?

@FabrizioRomano @City_Xtra Across both R16 legs, Man City generated 3.80 xG to Real Madrid's 3.04 — and won the only group stage meeting between them too. No manager in the competition consistently creates better quality and gets punished for it more brutally.

Responding to questions about potentially leaving the club with only one UCL title (won in 2023) after a decade in charge, Guardiola sarcastically fired back at the intense scrutiny regarding his European record. “Oh, everybody wants to fire me, right?! Oh my god, guys! One day I will come here and say, 'Bye bye, guys!'. And still I'm here, one more year. City suffered a 5-1 aggregate loss in the Round of 16 after losing the second leg 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium. The match swung after Bernardo Silva was sent off in the 20th minute for a handball on the goal line. Vinicius Jr. scored twice to secure Madrid's progression. Guardiola joked that he should have won "six Champions Leagues to be recognized" as a success, noting that since his Barcelona days, anything less than a treble or sextuple is often labeled a failure by critics. Despite the exit, Guardiola remains under contract until June 2027. While there has been significant speculation about his departure at the end of the 2025/26 season, he reiterated that he is "incredibly attached" to the organization and expects the team to be back in the competition next year.

Let me say something that does not get said enough. The standards Guardiola is being held to right now are genuinely unfair, and I suspect a big part of it is because of what Real Madrid did between 2016 and 2018. Guardiola has won the Champions League three times. Twice with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011, and once with Manchester City in 2023. Two titles in three years at Barcelona alone. That is a ridiculous output by any measure. Most of the greatest managers in football history never won it once. Sir Alex Ferguson, with all of United's dominance across two decades, won it twice. Guardiola has won it three times across two clubs and people are out here acting like it is a problem. Zidane's Real Madrid won the Champions League three consecutive times in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Then Ancelotti came back and won it again in 2022 and 2024. Five titles in nine years for one club. When the benchmark being whispered about is Real Madrid across that period, suddenly three wins across two different clubs in completely different leagues starts looking insufficient by comparison. That is not a fair comparison. That is an almost impossible standard being quietly applied to one man. Winning the Champions League once is hard. Winning it twice is historic. Winning it three times puts you in a conversation with Bob Paisley and Zidane. The fact that we are debating Guardiola's legacy in this competition at all tells you more about how extraordinary the last decade of European football has been than it tells you anything negative about him.

The real test isn't winning with world-class 11s and a blank check. It’s winning the league with Anderson, Tom Cleverley, and Darron Gibson in your rotation. If the FFP ruling came earlier, he’d be gone. He needs the tools to build the masterpiece; others built it with bricks and dust. 🧱

The Universe Is Not Self-Existent The sovereignty of God is unlimited. It is the fundamental fact of all creation. The universe was not inevitable. The universe is not an accident. Neither is it self-existent. The universe is a work of creation— and therefore wholly subject to the will of the Creator. The Urantia Book 3:6.2
