@henrywinter So they have a 2/3 week break in their respective leagues, yet, checks fixtures, still play 38 games sames as the ultra elite premier league. Meaning they have to fit these other games in elsewhere in the calendar in addition to international breaks. Pathetic excuse

One of the greatest games in recent memory. Positivity in motion. Total football, total entertainment. Some of the best players in the world on view. Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, Doue, Kane, Olise, Luis Diaz, and others. A lot of talk about how fresh PSG and Bayern Munich players look. Dominate their leagues so can rest and rotate. Also helps they have a winter break. Two weeks in France. Three weeks in Germany. The English plough on through winter, of course. Food for thought for the Premier League after this feast of football. But football of this exceptional calibre and pace is also a mindset and philosophy. Encouraged by enlightened coaches. Good players told to go out there and express themselves. Little diving or dissent, just elite competitors getting on with the game. A great game. Encore 🙌 #PSGBAY

@henrywinter Be interesting to hear your thoughts for and against a winter break. Italy have one but then teams play 4 times in 12 days in January once it's over. So technically the same as the PL playing over Christmas

How much of a point does Arteta have about intense schedule? Nuanced debate. Rice played 10 hours more league football than Kane this season. PL doesn’t have a winter break, loves pre-season tours, engaged in 2 domestic cups. Yet AFC in "less challenging" side of CL draw... 1/2

@ChelseaShurrle I really enjoyed him saying that Dobson's challenge was obviously nothing more than a yellow card and then after watching the replay confidently saying it was a clear red 🤦

Alan Shearer saying it doesn’t feel right when a goal that was obviously offside is disallowed haha, lovely unbias commentary as usual

@journalism_rp Regardless of the interpretation of the rules, the frustrating thing is it was right in front of the ref and you could see he almost just let the game go, knowing that VAR will check it for him. But it was never going to be enough to be over-ruled.

If it doesn't hit his arm, he can't control it and the ball bounces away. How that doesn't constitute controlling it is bizarre.

#CHELEE – 73’ The referee’s call of goal to Leeds United was checked and confirmed by VAR – with there deemed to be no handball offence by Bogle in the build-up.

@GoldbergCFC One of my pet peeves. Robinson is not American. He represents the US in football

@journalism_rp I'm not one for piling onto a player, but regardless of lack of cricket, I do feel that Bethell's shot choice was the beginning of the end. Nudge your way to 10/15 off 60 and we win comfortably

@tomcoley49 Except it's not really that meaningless as it provides crucial points in the world standings where England are currently teetering on having to qualify for the next world cup

Ultimately meaningless bilateral match aside, that's an all-timer ODI knock from Root. In from the first over, carrying the team through difficult phases, building two vital partnerships, and then accelerating at the end. Just masterful.

Steven Gerrard on staying at Liverpool: “I was saying to myself at the time, what means the most to you, what’s in your heart, if i win 2, 3 or 4 trophies from 2005 up until I retire at Liverpool, or win 8 with Chelsea, the 4 at Liverpool will mean an awful lot more to me”

Scotland have as many major league title winners in their squad (3; Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour, Andy Robertson) as England (3; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Harry Kane). Not too many times you can say that🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@journalism_rp Never understand why he doesn't just try and play football rather than always trying to injure or get into the player 🤦

@tovers98 A top left back stops both their goals. They block the cross for the first and are either in a better position to head away the second or they just jump.

I don’t understand the vitriol towards Maresca today. What more could he have done? He picked a fine team that majority were happy with, solicited an immediate response after HT and made effective substitutes. He can’t go enter the pitch and force Colwill/Tosin into position.

@BBCSport People always talk about the strength of La Liga and in particular the Madrid teams (plus Barcelona), but do they ever get criticised for the lack of Spanish players? There's more French (5) than Spanish (3) in the starting 22 for the Madrid derby! #BBCFootball

@lorcanmurphy0 That's not the case. Leon said he needed to convince people he's not a traitor as he could have walked away from the final round and just murdered Fozia there and then. A traitor would never have left the game - just one less round if a traitor was one of the last two players.

If any of these fucking thickos had a brain cell they’d realise it makes no sense for it to be Leon or Alexander cause they were JUST as vulnerable as Fozia in that game? What’s not clicking??? Why are they all so thick #TheTraitors
