The FT has ever been the propaganda arm for London bankers.
Bessent slaughters them rhetorically in this post, and then goes on to link to his own ideas for reshaping the USD into a currency that isn't subject to the whim of foreign bankers.
What is the current "world reserve currency"?
How is the value of that currency set now? How was it set from the 70s until 2024?
This is the FEBA in the war to reshape geopolitics.

By publishing this explicitly false story, the @FT has officially become tabloid trash for market participants. Despite my direct, on-the-record denial of ever having advocated, explored, or espoused the idea that Chancellor-Bank of England statute serving as a prototype for a Treasury-Federal Reserve relationship, FT journalists manufactured a story with the headline, “Scott Bessent praised Bank of England as model for tighter oversight of the Federal Reserve.” These pathetic journalists have clearly fabricated a story to give the impression that both I and the Trump Administration are setting “about restructuring the relationship… at a time when President Donald Trump has launched an unprecedented assault on the world’s most important central bank.” Their mendacious assertion is based on vague statements from unnamed “financial industry executives familiar with the matter.” In short, FT has literally manufactured an entirely fake policy position for me and the Administration. Other than furthering a maliciously false narrative of dysfunction and divisiveness, it baffles the mind as to why they would shred their already diminished journalistic credibility. Over the past 10 years, I have written more than 20,000 words opining on the Federal Reserve decisions, personnel, structure, and modifications. Nowhere have I ever mentioned this ridiculous notion. The Governor’s letters to the Chancellor have proven to be a useless and perfunctory device. There is much to be said about the storied Bank of England, but any recreation of its operating framework on this side of the Atlantic has never been contemplated. The shameful journalists and editors at the FT are shocking in their meretriciousness, lack of standards, and general intellectual libertinism. It is the worst tradition of Fleet Street to manufacture news rather than report on it. They have brought irredeemable shame to their parent organization, Nikkei Inc., with whom I had previously held excellent relations. Most people have never heard of Jack Lucas, and that’s a damn shame.
Jacklyn Harold Lucas was not some made up war legend. He was real. A teenage Marine who wanted in the fight so bad he lied about his age, forged his mom’s signature, and joined the Marine Corps at 14. When the Marines found out how young he really was, they kept him out of frontline combat in Hawaii. But Jack was not built to sit in the rear while other Marines went forward.
In early January 1945, at 16 years old, he left his unit and stowed away on the USS Deuel, an attack transport carrying the 5th Marine Division toward Iwo Jima. He hid for about a month, then turned himself in on February 8, just before he would have been listed as a deserter. Instead of booting him off the ship, they reduced him in rank to private and let him stay with the 26th Marines.
Think about that.
This was a 16 year old kid, about to turn 17, hiding on a ship in the Pacific because he was dead set on getting into the fight. He turned 17 while still at sea, only days before the landing on Iwo Jima began.
Then came February 20, 1945.
2 Japanese grenades landed in the trench with Jack and 3 other Marines. He did not run. He did not freeze. He threw himself on 1 grenade and pulled the second under his body to shield the men around him. By all logic, that should have killed him.
It did not.
He survived, though the blast tore through him with more than 200 pieces of shrapnel.
For that act of raw courage, 17 year old Private First Class Jack Lucas received the Medal of Honor.
That is what makes this story hit so hard.
Not just that he was young.
Not just that he fought.
Not just that he saved other Marines.
It is that he refused to stay behind. He literally snuck his way into 1 of the bloodiest battles in Marine Corps history because he believed his place was with the men going forward.
That kind of mindset is almost hard to process now.
The real story is this.
He enlisted at 14.
He stowed away to reach Iwo Jima.
He turned 17 at sea.
Then he threw himself on live grenades and saved his fellow Marines.
You do not need to exaggerate a damn thing about Jack Lucas.
The truth is already bigger than most fiction.

During Operation New Market, while on patrol in the city of Hadithah, an enemy ambush pinned down Sergeant Wimberg and his Company’s Command Element in the street.

In an attempt to eliminate the source of the ambush, Sergeant Wimberg left his covered position, maneuvered through intense small arms fire, and scaled a wall in order to gain access to the courtyard where the source of fire was originating.

Although twice driven back by high volumes of enemy fire, on his third attempt, he opened the gate and allowed his squad to enter. He then provided suppressive fire into insurgent positions in an adjacent house until his fire team was in position.

After two failed attempts to breach the front door, and without regard for his own personal safety, Sergeant Wimberg kicked in the door and gained entry to the house.

Finding himself face to face with four insurgents armed with AK-47 rifles, Sergeant Wimberg engaged the enemy at close quarters, firing his M-16A4 rifle until he was shot and fell to the ground unconscious. His heroic actions severely wounded one insurgent, stunned the other enemy fighters and created the momentum needed to break the ambush.

Many Marines’ lives were saved as a result of Sergeant Wimberg’s decisive and selfless actions. By his zealous initiative, courage, and total devotion to duty, Sergeant Wimberg reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.”
