Most people aren’t disengaged because they don’t care. They’re disengaged because the system is badly explained. I break down how Australian politics actually works from local councils, to state governments, to Canberra. Follow if you want Australian politics explained clearly.

There is an Election in South Australia right now & Labor is winning comfortably. But Pauline Hanson (a Senator from QLD), & her political party One Nation (primarily QLD based) are trending on X, and Labor is not. 😂🤷🤔

@KosSamaras Interesting read Kos thanks You mention education in a lot of your opinions on electoral matters. You are referring to university education? I'd like to understand the difference in voting patterns of all types of education - apprenticeships, TAFE, on-the-job etc.

The party that finished 4th. The South Australian Liberals didn’t just lose last night. In 17 seats they finished fourth. In two, they finished fifth. That’s a displacement. And here’s the structural trap that they now face: the three forces that displaced them pull in opposite directions. There is no single repositioning that recovers all three flanks at once. My new piece on what the seat-by-seat numbers actually show, and why the path back is harder than anyone in the party could have imagined. Link in the comments section.

@MickamiousG I think the changes in the voting demographic was remarkable & the fact that there was such a swing to One Nation (regardless of seats), does mean change is afoot politically. This will have flow on affects.

Oh my, such a troll post lol. Every single thing she mentions people "look to Labor for", are metrics she is failing miserably at here in Victoria. We look "at" Labor for these things sure - for their ineptitude & gross incompetence at managing.

Big congrats to South Australian Labor Premier Peter Malinauskas and his team on their re-election. In uncertain times, people look to Labor for the things that matter. Cost of living. Health. Education. Safety. Jobs. Whether it's in Canberra, in South Australia, or in Victoria later this year, families with new challenges want Labor’s new solutions - not Liberal cuts.

Gosh, some people are so self-entitled these days. Waiting in line at the chemist, waiting to be served, there is a woman having a phone conversation on speaker while she is getting served, holding up the rest of the queue. She then finishes her conversation, turns around with a smirk on her face and says, ‘Sorry, everyone. It’s not my fault that I’m popular and people call me.’ 🤦🏻‍♀️

@aussi3dutchman @DrCraigEmerson You're suggesting Liberal members are leaving because they preferenced One Nation over Labor. I'm tipping you haven't been to a conservative Liberal event in your life if you believe that. 👍

@AusExplained @DrCraigEmerson You're forgetting that they did, in fact, preference One Nation, and their voters are living in droves. So, using your logic, what does that tell you?

@94Seats @GeoffWr33389394 I don't measure our crime rates by other countries. We are the lucky country remember? I measure it on previous years, on our way of life, and what Australians have to come to expect. We are WELL below that now.

@AusExplained @GeoffWr33389394 The government is hardly left, let alone radical. Knife crime is nowhere near international levels. And gun crime is almost nonnexist

Living in Melbourne = Go for a walk in Port Melbourne, get stabbed. Ride up an escalator as you head to work, get stabbed. Walk to work on busy streets of CBD, get stabbed. Tell off kids throwing rocks at your house, get stabbed. Robbers breaking into your home, get stabbed.

@colonelhogans Former prostitute in Parliament in Victoria (Fiona Patten), former stripper in Parliament in Victoria (Georgie Purcell). If you are fine with these women entering Parliament after their sexual proclivities were published, you'd need to find something else on the One Nation fella.

@BarkingMaad @Peter_Fitz Agreed. I think it shows people are growing in their frustration with the 2PP system, & radical change being done by those in power that were not given "a mandate" to make radical changes.

@Peter_Fitz There are reasons for its increasing popularity, regardless of One Nation's flaws or limitations. Whether One Nation represents those reasons is irrelevant. Change is coming.

Not sure about after two years but, overall, 70 per cent of those elected under that banner have left it. It is a circus, with more clowns than it knows what to do with.

@Peter_Fitz Do we know how many people are elected under the One Nation banner and then quit within 2 years

@KatyKray73 @lauren_vasiliou Too many people on the left (the very ones that pretend to care about the marginalised and vulnerable) have not yet been affected by Labor policies, so frankly they just don't care. They don't see Labor destroying the middle class & keeping the poor in poverty. They don't care.

@JaneCaro Politics is a pendulum. To say that it is swinging to the hard right, is to agree it has swung far to left, and is attempting to rebalance. We have swung far to left, & this was always going to be the consequence. Centre left/centre right is best for the majority 👍

FFS South Australia! Have you noticed what Trump has done to America? What he has done to those who voted for him? One Nation is part of the same grift.
