Butler County Fire District #3

This afternoon, BCFD#3 firefighters participated in the first Rose Hill 9/11 Ceremony and Rose Hill 9-11 Memorial design reveal. We remember those who perished 21 years ago on September 11, 2001.

For our monthly Saturday morning training, firefighters practiced shoring techniques for trench collapse emergencies. A big thank you to Lieutenant Kevin Leis and the Plumbing Doctor LLC for digging our practice trench and allowing us to training on their property!

At 01:41 hours this morning, BCFD#3 Engine 31, Command 30 & Command 32 along with five firefighters assisted BCFD#8 (Douglass) with a structure (house) fire in the 500 block of N Highway 77.

At 13:55 hours this afternoon, Pumper 31, Tender 32, and Command 30 responded to the 14200 block of SW Ruth Road for a the report of a grass fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found short grass on fire in the back yard of a residence.

For our monthly Saturday morning training, Chief Webster presented operations training on our new 3000 gallon Tender 32 and Lieutenant Firebaugh presented a pumping refresher. Quite a few firefighters were also able to complete their driver’s training on the new Tender.

Boil water advisory for Rose Hill!

Thanks @AnheuserBusch & @NVFC for the donation of a pallet of canned drinking water (2,352 cans!) to keep our crews hydrated during #wildfire season! And thank you to @demosalesinc for taking time to deliver the much-needed water to our fire station. #firefighterhydration

Tender 32 got her lettering and decals installed today. She’s looking good! Firefighters are currently attending driver and pump training, so it won’t be long and she’ll be in service.

Congratulations to Matt DeShazer for his promotion from Probationary Firefighter to Firefighter l. Chief Webster presented Matt with his yellow helmet at Monday training last evening.

Friday morning, the Engine 31 crew cooled down the kiddos at the Wee Rocket Child Development Center in RH. We’re pretty sure the kids would have let the crew spray water all day long!

On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting our country. #memorialday

At 17:22 hours this evening, Rescue 55, Engine 31, Command 30 and Command 31 along with six firefighters responded to the roundabout at SW150th St and Butler Rd for a MVA. Minor injuries were reported. Please remember that all vehicles in the roundabout have the right-of-way.

We remember our LEO friends on Peace Officers Memorial Day today.

Congratulations to Lisa Schwebe and Martin Herbers on being awarded the high bid on the sealed bid sale of Tanker 33 (Old Tanker 1). If you see Martin and Lisa cruising around Rose Hill in their “new” fire truck, wave and say “Hi”!

At 03:51 hours this morning, BCFD#3 Tender 31, Rescue 55 and Command 30 along with four firefighters responded to the 500 block of S Harvey Rd to assist Andover Fire-Rescue with a fully involved detached garage fire. The fire was brought under control and extinguished.

For our Saturday morning training this month, firefighters practiced “saving your own” skills, consisting of firefighter down CPR and RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) drills. Thanks to Lieutenant Kevin Leis and Firefighter Chase Ozbun for leading the training this morning.

At 10:59 hours BCFD#3 Pickup 32, Pumper 31, Tanker 34 and Command 30 along responded to the report of a grass fire in the Hillwood Addition. Upon arrival, two small grass fires were located in a field next to the road. Both fires were extinguished quickly without incident.

We’d like to give a shout out and a thank you to our neighbors, The Perfect Blend Nutrition for bringing by some energy drinks for us to try out. They were delicious!
