This is a tired debate already, despite being a new attempt at historic revisionism, but ATB is a type of turn-based combat. You still have to wait for your turn before you can act. "Turns" are the terms the creators of ATB originally used when describing the system.

Today we begin FF4, in my opinion where Final Fantasy really focuses on story and character development. Amazing music for the proper moments, the game tells such a great story starring Cecil, one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Lemme know how you feel about the game in the comments.

@GrandPOOBear They were always action games, with jump scares. They confused survival with inventory management. Survival implies that the best you can do is survive, shotguns imply that you can fight back.

Tank Controls and Fixed cameras made the games scarier and now they are just action games with a few jump scares now that you no longer need to worry about how many bullets you have left.

@RafaelTS13 @theWellRedMage People asking for remakes and remasters miss this point every time. When a company puts resources on one thing, it takes away from other places they could use them, like new releases and higher quality games or shorter dev time

@theWellRedMage ngl, felt like some of the issue stems from FF7 alone, they've treat FF7R like mainline game release and they milk the hell out of FF7 i'd imagine FF17 would be in development now if it's wasn't for FF7R Part 3, unless ofc CBU3 developed another mainline again

Return to form: shorter games released more frequently so you don’t have to make up the cost of dev time with cup noodle commercials

@TheGameVerse I suppose that's the difference between a developer that has developed 1 game previously vs on that has 40+ games. We all gotta start somewhere. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I probably won't. At least it's bright though, lol

Crimson Desert (2026) vs RDR2 (2018)

@VikingGamer101 @CentralScruty Try the second one. After finishing 3 I went back to 2 and was blown away by the quality bump. Combat is harder and better, the flow of the game is much better, everything just feels better except ninjutsu. I forgot how amazing the second one was.

@CentralScruty I really don’t know where I stand with Nioh. My first has been 3. It’s good but it’s also in some ways anoyying me 😅

@TheSpiffingBrit What do you do for a living? If it's reviews or gaming videos, 70 hours after an embargo isn't crazy. You were trying to be relevant. If you are a doctor and a parent, that speaks volumes.

So the review embargo is up on crimson desert so I guess I can review it now. I dont like giving games a score so instead I will say that I started playing it 5 days ago. @Sebbywebz It started earlier than x. We were just in shock when 7 and 8 came out. And everyone loved the big swords in 7 so much that they overlook it's shortcomings.

The drop-off in quality after Final Fantasy X needs to be studied #FFXII

@Sebbywebz It's because you don't play the game. You set your gambits and then just walk around. Sometimes you get lucky and the game will walk you from enemy to enemy as well and you don't even need to walk.

Even at 4x Speed, Final Fantasy XII feels boring and slow How is that even possible

Dragon Quest 12 might be one of the worst cases of going silent cause at least people ask about ES6 and KH4 This game has had nothing for 5 years and I don’t even see it mentioned in these convos
