According to Mormon theology, unless a person is properly baptized by someone who has the authority to baptize, that person is improperly baptized and that baptism is of no effect. The person who is improperly baptized, we are told, remains unsaved. So, Joseph Smith—who had not yet been baptized by someone who had the proper authority—had no authority himself to baptize Oliver Cowdery. And Cowdery—thus improperly baptized—subsequently went on to improperly baptize Joseph Smith.

I’m glad you think so because you even learn how to put out a fire, hands on. What they do is incredible. And literally nobody is interested! I used to do events at an event venue. And I’ve always dreamed of having a midsized event venue where I can put on events for smaller groups with niche interests so that I could target YSA’s and get them together. Like baking, gardening, medical, even books, etc. This just affirms how we need to facilitate ways for YSA’s to meeting real life and feel connection.

@NauvooSpice And by scheduled, I mean Ive it the same day and time every week. So you KNOW it’s gonna be there and you can plan when to go if you have time each week. That helps a TON with planning/scheduling and if you just happen to be near there when it’s happening, you can just go :D

@NauvooSpice Here’s a funny thought: ask those whiney introverts what they’d want to see happen for activities. They’ll probably huff n gruff and you’ll go “exactly, so we’re gonna hold awesome events and youre gonna LIKE IT!” Cus if they aren’t gonna go to things anyways, it’s not for them.

LOVE this. I wonder if this could be helped by starting it earlier too? Like YW/YM combined activities? I’m YW president so it’s a knee jerk reaction. 😅 Even amongst the married couples, this would be great but there’s such a lack of interest. My area has a free CERT training being offered and hardly anyone is signing up. That’s something as saints that should absolutely be getting traction.

@NauvooSpice Im not in Utah, if that’s what you’re asking. I agree, I’m not really sure what all the money gets spent on here, but they need to have more oversight/thinktanks on it. The “introverts” will need to get over themselves. Im an introvert and I’m tired of feeling invisible.

Got it. Which county are you in? I hear that a lot and makes total sense. I do know in our area that the most money is dumped into the YSA wards but it seems like they aren’t really using it to its full potential. But I also see the other side that there’s introverts that don’t like those events and activities, or are having a hard time connecting. I feel like the dating scene is a huge train wreck right now and maybe it’s because of dating apps? That’s my theory anyway.

I feel differently. I think the last two talks from Oaks have been emphasizing family, even with foster care and multi generational families. I see a ton of grandparents who aren’t interested and a ton of the fertile generations not having more kids because they are too burnt out and lack support. It seems he’s seeing the trends and is urging us to change course in those ways. What are you hoping for though? Like when it comes to overt messaging?
