Our pal @VDHanson just emailed me and asked if I would post this in response to the many inquiries about his health and status. If you're looking for the "official word," this is it. @DailySignal @HooverInst An Update From Victor Davis Hanson I want to thank all the wonderful people who have sent me wishes of rapid recovery and prayers in so many manifestations. I cannot thank you enough given it gave me hope and encouragement these past two weeks as I read and reread you notes, cards, and postings. I was operated on 12/30 to remove a large "mucinous adenoma carcinoma" and also right lower lobe by the thoracic surgery team at Stanford Medical. I had previously and mysteriously been unable to recover fully from a March 2025 flu and a series of sinus infections that led to a sinus operation, and later hoarseness and cough. A series of various scans suggested subclinical pneumonia, prior damage from long covid, or perhaps even valley fever. However, the consolidation continued to grow, and I continued to feel weaker and hoarser—from what turned out to be a very hard to diagnose and rare lung cancer that is often dubbed “pseudo-pneumonia” for its near identical appearance to infection/inflammation on scans. Many think these types of cancer are genetically driven and I have had certainly many family members with cancers. An accurate diagnosis is often made more difficult given non-smokers (and nondrinkers/non drug users) more often suffer this type of strange malignancy. Luckily, and belatedly I got to Stanford Med where after another scan and surgical biopsy they quickly diagnosed the near year long problem as a large malignancy. In this regard. I want to thank our director at the Hoover Institution and my friend and colleague Dr. Condoleezza Rice whose support and advice on medical care proved invaluable. The 12/30 cancer removal surgery a little more than two weeks ago went well. But as happens (I’m 72) sometimes, an arterial bleed of unknown origins developed in the recovery room. I was very lucky that the team got me back into surgery, found the hemorrhaging, provided numerous transfusions, and got me back to recovery. I am recovering well from the lung cancer surgery, but now mostly dealing with the after effects of the long time under anesthesia for the two procedures, blood loss, anemia, and some AFIB, which are all mostly manifested in fatigue and weakness. But I hope to rebuild and recover and return to work in time, especially given the frantic news cycle of the last month. There is much to be optimistic about, despite the nasty nature of this rare nonsmoker’s cancer and a few detours during recovery. Lymph nodes and peripheral samples removed during surgery around the tumor and mass proved negative for malignancy. And a pre-op full body scan did not show metastasis. So I’m hoping to rebuild my strength and prepare for perhaps some sort of chemo/immunotherapy prophylactic treatment to help prevent recurrence in the pulmonary area. I can’t thank all of you enough for your kindness. It stunned me and I will do my best to recover and see you all again on podcasts and other venues. Sincerely Victor Davis Hanson

Why is this a thing 😭😭 Dude doesn’t even know what a timeout is. How to use them. When to use them. How many he has. Clock management has always been an issue with him. What are some other options?

The next @Giants HC needs experience, cannot be a first time HC. Needs to know how to deal with the outside noise and understand the pressure of being in New York. Most coordinators don’t make great HC’s so please spare me those names. That doesn’t make them bad OC/DC’s but they’re not CEO material, that’s ok. So many names will fly around but there are probably only 1/2 names available now that work. Our best option is probably already a HC, it’s honestly worth the discussion….should we trade for a HC?

@lindacohn Coaching scared! They don’t trust their kicker to kick off, so they use the punter. They don’t trust Russell Wilson to throw the ball, but they won’t put Jameis in the game. Incredible.

I can’t take it anymore. This is coaching. The Giants play scared. Punter stinks. Defense is embarrassing when it matters most. Jaxson Dart deserves better.

@ShaunMorash I don’t think he is a good analyst. The decision to kick the FG and go up two scores was clearly the right call, and in no way cost them the game. He and his partner also lauded Russell Wilson as a QB who “still has it”.

Greg Olsen is a good analyst. He’s lost on the Giants taking 3 points here. It was the biggest weakness of the Russell Wilson led Giants offense

@Alsboringtweets I love the national announcers saying that Russell Wilson “still has it”, when he looks either completely shot, or disinterested, or both. At least Jameis Winston would give them a taller more mobile QB with a much stronger arm.

I can’t believe Jaxson Dart may have a concussion. The Giants only run him every single play. What could possibly go wrong?

@PhilSimmsQB Completely agree. That decision did not cost them the game. Jameis Winston might have given them a better opportunity to win. Russell Wilson looks either shot or disinterested.

@BobbySkinner_ It starts with ownership. Should have cleaned house last year, and now it’s virtually inevitable that Dart will be learning a new offense next year under a new HC and OC. Our GM might hit on some draft picks, but doesn’t do a good job addressing the needs of the team.

@ehJoshy @BobbySkinner_ Who is Dart supposed to throw too? We lost our only reliable deep threat when Nabers went down, and we don’t have a close second. The play calling is suspect, and when they do dial up a passing play, there’s rarely any separation.

@BobbySkinner_ I’m excited for dart, love him and his energy, but not making deep passes downfield is really scaring me.

@postcrabcore If Mara won’t at least consider Gruden, it just means he’s willing to sign us up for another 5-10 years of losing. He is not his father, and he should sell the team.
