If you are cooking, an easy reminder that you have something in the oven is by setting a timer on your phone.

Never leave anything combustible on the top of your stove.

If you have a small grease fire in a pot or pan put a lid on it, never throw water to try and put it out. If the flames are too big to safely put a lid on, get out and call 911.

When drawing up a home fire escape plan for your family, ensure your pets are included. If you can't escape safely with them, never go back in to try and get them, tell firefighters they are still inside.
