Just published a new article on my blog! Built a console app in a week to calculate custom stable prices that made me felt like a real developer for a moment. 😆 Check it out 👉 codebyblazej.com/posts/how-i-go…

If I put together a 2/3day Rails-oriented, indie business/small team technical leader MICRO-conference for early/mid-Jan in the UK countryside… would that sound interesting? Everyone brings one strong opinion and one problem and we take it in turns to help each other out.

I have finally posted an overdue article about databases. I wanted to improve my hour counting process, which I previously used ChatGPT for, but it was slow and clumsy. I decided to write my own implementation in Ruby for it, but it's a subject for the next article 🫡 codebyblazej.com/posts/crud-rep…

Thanks! Well, I couldn’t wait to start doing Rails but I told myself that if I’m starting something I will do it from A to Z. I wanted to go through all the lessons and at least know what was where, in case I get stuck doing something further down the line. It is surely time consuming though and I believe it might be beneficial to sometimes get ahead as you say, especially at times when it seems like the wall of text is never ending. 😂

@CodeByBlazej Nice write-up! I'm actually surprised that you chose to wait and progress through the course step by step instead of jumping to the rails section to build the app. I did the odin project at some point as well and I actually benefited a lot from skipping around.

It’s been a week since I started learning Rails, and it hasn’t disappointed! Ruby was a tough first language, but after pushing through the curriculum I couldn’t be happier I chose Rails. Everything’s clicking, and after all these documentations I have seen so far for many things Rails Guides are really outstanding.

@CodeByBlazej Nice! Rails is a good choice. I just jumped on Rails recently. Coming from years of PHP and JavaScript. Ruby is really refreshing and fun to work with.

@zhephyn Yes I did one for my friend! I’ve done it in Ruby and he is using it. Once I’m more familiar with Rails I’ll rewrite it for them. I described this process in this article on my blog codebyblazej.com/posts/how-i-go…

@CodeByBlazej Congratulations on choosing rails and ruby. 🎉 Have you built any personal projects yet apart from those that are part of the curriculum?

@o_j_nelson Being the first language haha. I went through JS in the odin project foundation but not so deep like with Ruby. Now I wouldn’t really work with other things

New article on my blog! This time it took me 211,5 hours to go through the The Odin Project intermediate CSS section 💪 I’m a bit behind on publishing, but the next articles will come out much quicker, one after the other. I will do my best! 😃 Check it out 👉 codebyblazej.com/posts/leveling…

I have finally made this to the databases project! It was a little bit of reading to be gone through but it was quite enjoyable I have to say 😁

Just spent 3 hours diving into some surprisingly interesting SQLite docs about indexing and query planning. 📚 Haven’t finished databases yet, so not sure how common this is among devs but wow, understanding this feels like a secret hack to speed up future apps. Totally worth pushing through the 'boring' bits!

@is_h80h Well, yep, there are so many options with forms, either in HTML and in CSS when it comes time to style them in different configurations like :hover, :active and so on :D Grid was waaaay simplier :D

I have just finished the last project from the Intermediate HTML and CSS Course on The Odin Project! It's been a blast to go through this section so far! I learned a ton, and GRID is going to be one of the most important tools from now on. 🔲🔳 I can't wait to get to Rails 🛤️

@is_h80h Great! You wont be disappointed, it’s easy to grasp on ;) I found forms sometimes more complicated than grid
